Meet Sydney Kearney, Studio Manager
What was the first record you fell in love with?
Nas – Illmatic. I was at Cheapos in my hometown in MN when I spotted this album on CD and bought it on a whim. I spent that summer playing Illmatic on repeat in my hooptie. When I was 16, I got a tattoo that says “NY State of Mind”
What is the most important thing about your work at RCA?
Providing our artists with an environment and experience in which their ideas can come to life!
What was a critical moment in music history for you?
In my lifetime, the release of Frank Ocean’s Blonde and the evolution of music that occurred as a result.
Name a record that has had a significant impact on you.
I definitely can’t pick just one! I’ve already mentioned Blonde and Illmatic. So, in no particular order… Audioslave self-titled, Beyonce Dangerously in Love & 4, Harry Styles Fine Line, Usher Confessions, Chris Brown self-titled… OK, I have to stop now!
What live performance will you never forget?
Harry Styles at the Forum December 2019
