(November 15, 2022) – Ruger returns with two hot new tracks “Red Flags” and “Asiwaju”, listen here. The two tracks offer up the notable Ruger flair, while being uniquely distinct. Jumping on the slick production from TSB (J Hus, M1llionz) on “Red Flags” Ruger quips on relationship dos and don’ts and proses the question on if he is the red flag. While reconnecting with collaborator Kukbeats, on “Asiwaju”, Ruger reaffirms his position as the next Nigerian star. Listen back to the B side here.

With the release of The Second Wave Deluxe EP, Ruger continued to show his hand at delivering hits. Fan favourite “Girlfriend” his fastest growing single, with now over 19 million views on the video. It’s predecessor Second Wave EP, which spawned the gigantic hit single “Dior” #1 across Africa (Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Liberia Gambia, Chad and Seychelles) firmly established him as one the hottest artists to watch coming out of the continent right now. Arriving on the scene 18 months ago, he has amassed over 120 million streams to date and most recently joined the elite Golden Circle on African DSP – Boomplay, reserved for musicians that have racked up 100million streams on the platform.
In just over a year Ruger’s arrival on to the music scene has been huge. Included in Vogue’s 22 musicians to watch for 2022and with co-signs from the likes of Davido, Don Jazzy, Popcaan, Burna Boy and more, Ruger has become one of the new hottest names. 23-year-old Lagosian Ruger has spent the past few years developing his artistry, with the guidance of the Jonzing World musical incubator. Working with producer KukBeats to home in his self-described “crazy, energetic and real” Afro-Dancehall sound. Ruger draws reference from a childhood filled with a breadth of musical influences including 2Face, Gyptian, Bob Marley and Sunday’s spent drumming and singing in his Church choir.
