LOS ANGELES, CA (July 8, 2024) – Hot off the heels of his critically praised EP release, Isaac Dunbar returns with the release of “Take It Slow,” out now via RCA Records.
The surprise release follows Isaac’s teasing of the song on TikTok, which quickly went viral on the platform. When discussing the release, Isaac noted, “‘Take It Slow’ is the first extension of ‘Beep Beep Repeat.’ It’s about that man who lovebombed you and was way too clingy way too fast. I want every DJ in the world to play this in gay clubs one day.”
This April, the 21-year-old pop prodigy released his latest EP, Beep Beep Repeat, driven by his time living in New York. Influenced by the sounds and energy of the city’s vibrant club scene, Beep Beep Repeat is a propulsive and playful offering from the rising pop star, featuring singles “Apartment A,” “Backseat Girl,” and “American High,” as well as the euphoric “I Love to Dance,” co-written by bloghouse icon Uffie.
The project was praised by Billboard, noting “‘Beep Beep Repeat’ invites you to disengage from our stark reality and simply revel in some good old-fashioned house parties, hangovers and heartpounding rhythms.” Ones To Watch called the project a “dazzlingly indulgent pop journey,” while Queerty noted the release is “a trip you won’t want to miss.”
Isaac celebrated the project with a series of sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, and London, as well as a performance at this year’s LA Pride in the Park. To close out Pride Month, Isaac also released a live performance of “American High” joined by the London Gay Men’s Chorus, which was premiered by GLAAD.
About Isaac Dunbar
For as much as Isaac Dunbar writes about life and love from the perspective of a Gen-Z city-dwelling creative savant, he also just wants you to cut loose on the dancefloor. He takes the decadent “more-is-more” maximalism of twenty-tens pop and shocks it back to life with fierce theatricality, disco je ne sais quoi, and timeless rockstar swagger. Born to an Italian mom and Liberian father, he frequently moved around as a kid, yet still managed to anchor himself to music. During high school, he ignited his rise with a string of viral successes. Signing to RCA Records before even getting his driver’s license, he tallied hundreds of millions of streams across EPs such as isaac’s insects in 2020 and evil twin in 2021. Powered up by “Bleach” and “Tainted Love,” he really took flight on Banish The Banshee in 2022.
Inciting widespread critical applause, The FADER praised, “Dunbar’s vocal gymnastics craft a compelling narrative laying out the character arc of a villain whose biggest battle is internal,” and Billboard affirmed, “Whichever mode you prefer, Dunbar has a little something for everyone.” LADYGUNN urged, “All hail the new voice: Isaac Dunbar.” The 21-year-old Rhode Island-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer makes music you can dance to anywhere (like no one’s looking), earning a spot on GLAAD’s 20 Under 20 List and a nomination for ‘Breakthrough Music Artist’ at the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards.
