Marking an exciting new chapter in her musical journey, multi-BRIT and 2024 Mercury Prize nominee Cat Burns kicks off 2025 with her latest release “GIRLS!” – a bold and playful track via Sony Music UK/RCA Records. The news comes as Cat sells out an extra special BRITs show for War Child at the Moth Club on Monday, February 17.
Setting the tone for her continued rise into 2025, excitement around the new release has been building since the end of last year, following her viral cover of the noughties hit “teenage dirtbag.” A vibrant ode to women across the globe, Cat’s unapologetically flirtatious narrative marks a new era for the acclaimed pop star.
Speaking on “GIRLS!” Cat said: “‘GIRLS!’ is my love letter to women – a tribute to their magic and everything that makes them extraordinary. I love women and I wanted to create a song that truly celebrates them in a way that’s fun, flirty and full of good energy.”
Showcasing her signature blend of raw authenticity and wit, “GIRLS!” marks the highly anticipated follow-up to her 2024 top ten UK album early twenties and prestigious Mercury Prize nod. With playful lyrics like “it’s hard to keep it PG, when you’re standing next to me” and the unforgettable chorus “I just wanna talk about girls,” the track has all the ingredients of a definitive girl’s anthem.
Continuing to solidify her status as a voice of her generation, across the music scene and beyond, Cat’s upward trajectory shows no signs of slowing down. With a number of festivals already lined up and more music scheduled to drop throughout the year, 2025 is set to be another standout year for the rising star.
