Los Angeles, California – August 9, 2024 – Brazilian music superstar and philanthropist ALOK, popularly known for chart-topping collaborations with John Legend, Ellie Goulding, Ava Max, and Bebe Rexha, has released a new single, “Why I Love You So” with prolific British DJ and producer James Hurr and renowned English dance project Supafly. The dreamy dance summer track is an exciting new direction for ALOK and brings an Afro-house twist to his iconic dance pop production. “Why I Love You So” is available now on all DSPs and streaming platforms via Columbia/B1 Recordings/RCA Records HERE.
“Why I Love You So” is set to be the next summer anthem for the Brazilian DJ following “Summer’s Back” with British GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Jess Glynne, which already has over 12 million streams. The new single sees ALOK blend his skillful production with the unique styles of his collaborators to create a captivating sonic experience for fans. The song brings an Afro-house twist to ALOK’s iconic dance pop production with a modern beat. “Ooh, I love you so, but why I love you? I’ll never know” repeats throughout the melodic track, taking listeners on a blissful, nostalgic journey. ALOK has been on fire again in 2024, having been voted the number 1 Latin American DJ in the world by DJ Magand number 3 in the world by Spin Genie, which aggregates publicly available data including monthly listeners, Google searches and more. In February, a crowd of more than 1 million people turned out in Brazil for his performance, setting a new record for the most people to attend a show. On the music front, he’s released smash singles such as “Summer’s Back” with British GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Jess Glynne and “Deep In Your Love” with multi-platinum hitmaker and star Bebe Rexh. ALOK is also wrapping up a successful Las Vegas residency with Tao Group Hospitality and preparing for his ‘ÁUREA Tour’, which will travel across Brazil bringing a custom mega structure stage into football stadiums in November.
Outside of his commercial ventures, ALOK is continuing his humanitarian work with his ALOK Institute and their philanthropic and musical project to support indigenous communities globally, “The Future Is Ancestral,” which has captured significant attention from being invited to perform at the United Nations and Global Citizen Festival, to being awarded by UNESCO and receiving support from the GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles. ALOK also proudly released the music from the collaboration as The Future Is Ancestral album with artists from eight indigenous tribes from different regions of Brazil. Long regarded as one of the go-to producers in the UK electronic scene, James Hurr has quickly made his name as a prolific artist/writer/producer. With a collaboration roster which reads like a who’s who of pop and dance, recent projects have seen him working with the likes of Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Acraze, Meduza, Vintage Culture, Leftwing : Kody, Basement Jaxx, Mark Knight, Beverley Knight. His writing and productions consistently receive support from BBC Radio 1 as well as Kiss FM, and his music has found a home across all major labels as well as the likes of Ministry, Spinnin, Ultra and Armada, including over 100 releases on Toolroom Records.
Since 2021 James has teamed up with Grammy Winning record producer Paul Harris and together they produce and write under the aliases ‘Hrrtz’, ‘Harris & Hurr’ and ‘HOT M3SS’. Dance music act Supafly were formed in London bringing together U.K based Aussie, Panos Liassi, aka Mister P and Andrew Tumi. Their debut release “Let’s Get Down” on premier house label Subliminal Records made waves as an underground anthem and a chart hit across several countries. In the U.K and the Netherlands it was a top 20 single. In Australia and Scotland it landed a top 30 chart position while it was also top 40 across France and Belgium.
