TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR CINEMAS WORLDWIDE ON SEPTEMBER 28 AT WWW.CROSSROADSFANEVENT.COM
Los Angeles, CA—Trafalgar Releasing, Sony Music Entertainment and RCA Records announced plans today to bring Crossroads, starring Britney Spears in her first feature role, to cinemas worldwide on Oct. 23 and Oct. 25, 2023 for a special global fan event. The Crossroads Global Fan Event will coincide with the release of Spears’ highly anticipated memoir, THE WOMAN IN ME, available worldwide on Oct. 24, 2023. The 2002 film, written by Shonda Rhimes (creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and Executive Producer of Bridgerton) and directed by Tamra Davis (13: The Musical, Dead To Me, Billy Madison), features a star-studded cast including Britney Spears, Anson Mount, Zoë Saldana, Taryn Manning, with Kim Cattrall and Dan Aykroyd.
Tickets for the Crossroads Global Fan Event will go on sale Sept. 28, 2023, at 9:00 a.m EDT at www.crossroadsfanevent.com. The film will be distributed in over 875 locations across 24 countries.
The Crossroads Global Fan Event will also include a bonus sing-along of two Britney Spears’ songs from Crossroads following the film, which have never been seen on the big screen.
Crossroads tells the story of three childhood friends, Lucy (Spears), Kit (Zoë Saldana) and Mimi (Taryn Manning), who, after eight years apart, rediscover their friendship on a cross-country trip. With barely a plan, practically no money but plenty of dreams, the girls catch a lift with Mimi’s handsome friend Ben (Anson Mount) in his convertible. Along the way they not only gather experiences that will change their lives, but they also discover how important it is to hold onto their hearts’ desires.
Director Tamra Davis said of the Crossroads Global Fan Event, “I am beyond thrilled that Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records and Trafalgar Releasing are rereleasing Crossroads in movie theaters. I recently rewatched Crossroads and was so enthralled with the time capsule of nostalgia that this incredible ensemble cast brings to the screen. Britney is absolutely breathtaking to watch, and Shonda is showing us her early expertise in writing complicated female characters. We had the best time in the world making this picture and the connection the actresses bring to their performances shows in every frame. The music will undoubtedly have audiences dancing and singing along and I know everyone will have as much fun watching these scenes as we had making them. I’m so grateful that Crossroads will be available so people can see Britney shine again.”
Crossroads, which premiered in 2002, has gone on to become a fan favorite following its original U.S. release, which generated more than $61M globally. Today’s announcement marks the first time, in recent years, the film has been widely available since its original theatrical release date.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Sony Music and RCA Records to create an opportunity for fans to enjoy this highly sought after film in cinemas, and to rally in support of Britney telling her story in her upcoming memoir release,” said Marc Allenby, CEO, Trafalgar Releasing.
The Crossroads Global Fan Event is part of a major investment and promotion of the classic film. On Oct. 20, 2023, RCA Records will release “Crossroads: Special Edition”, a soundtrack to accompany the re-release of the 2002 classic film. In addition to fan favorites, the album will include three new Britney Spears remixes: “Overprotected” (Richi Lopez Remix), “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman” (Snakehips Remix) and “I Love Rock ‘N Roll” (Frank Walker Remix). Additionally, the re-release will include the launch of a Crossroads merchandise line featuring movie-inspired tees, sweats, jackets and more, in addition to recreations of wardrobe worn by the cast from the film itself.
Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, will publish THE WOMAN IN ME, the eagerly awaited memoir from Britney Spears on Oct. 24, 2023.
“We are thrilled that Sony Music, RCA Records and Trafalgar Releasing have partnered with us to celebrate the publication of THE WOMAN IN ME by Britney Spears. This special global theatrical re-release of Crossroads is a gift to Britney’s fans and a reminder of her enormous impact on pop culture worldwide,” said Jennifer Bergstrom, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Gallery Books.
