[Los Angeles, CA – October 2, 2023] GRAMMY award-winning global superstar Doja Cat returns to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 this week as her smash “Paint the Town Red” lands back at #1. Additionally, “Paint the Town Red” rules the Billboard Global 200 for the 4th week in a row. This marks the first rap song to hit #1 on the Hot 100 this year. The song also made history by reaching No. 1 on Spotify’s Top 50 – USA chart; this is the first time in Spotify history that a rap song from a solo female artist has earned the top spot on the charts. “Paint The Town Red” also hit No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global Chart.
Doja Cat is on fire as her fourth studio album, “Scarlet” (out now via Kemosabe Records / RCA Records) debuts in the Top 5.
“Scarlet,” which is the top rap album debut this week, has the distinction of being the first female rap album with no features, that has debuted in the Top 5. Doja Cat, known for her lyrical prowess, is the primary writer across all songs on the album which is receiving mass critical acclaim with Variety raving “‘Scarlet’ is not only hands-down her best album, it’s also her first full-on hip-hop set, with beats that range between hard and skittery.” Billboard says “Scarlet finds Doja flexing her muscle in different rap subgenres as she relies on a fiery new love to release from the twisted hamster wheel of the fanatic-artist dynamic. From jazz rap and punk rap to neo-soul and pluggnb, Doja is at the height of her chameleonic powers on Scarlet.” Stereogum says “Doja Cat has gone out of her way to make a straight-up rap record, talking hard shit over hard beats without ignoring her pop instincts. The result is a big, brash statement-piece album that never loses its sense of fun.” NPR says “Scarlet” is “her most artistically adventurous to date.”
Doja Cat’s newest fan favorite track “Agora Hills” debuts this week in the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The music video for the track has taken the internet by storm. It was shot in Pomona, CA and Koreatown in Los Angeles, CA and directed by Hannah Lux Davis (Ariana Grande / Nicki Minaj) and Doja Cat.
Leading up to the release of “Scarlet”, replicas of “Scarlet” popped up at different locations across the U.S. – check out images of the Scarlet’s replica HERE.
Last month, Doja Cat released her official single and music video, “Paint The Town Red”, which hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and the Global 200 Chart last week. Currently, “Paint The Town Red” still remains #1 on the Global 200 Chart.
