ATLANTA, GA (May 10, 2023) – Today, Grammy-nominated rapper Deante’ Hitchcock releases his highly anticipated sophomore album, Once Upon A Time, out now via ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records.
Once Upon A Time is a journey into the emotional rollercoaster that Deante’ experienced with his romantic partner and the birth of their son, Otto Saint Hitchcock. A conceptual project in the vein of Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, M.A.A.D. city or The Game’s The Documentary, Once Upon A Time crafts a narrative arc that’s transparent yet complex about the uncertainties and emotions men often face but don’t always express to the women in their lives.
Featuring the singles “Woah!,” “Drunk AF,” “Alone,” and “U Were Right I Was Wrong,” as well as collaborations with DRAM, Big K.R.I.T., Westside Boogie, Dende, and more, the 16-track project is a vulnerable and versatile offering that flexes Deante’s growth as an artist while serving as a cautionary tale for his son’s future relationships.
“At what was shaping up to be a turning point in my life, the world as we know it seemed to stop turning altogether. I watched our world change, and in the midst of it all, I had a son, became a father, and watched my world change as well,” says Deante’ in a statement. “The word ‘son’ feels hella ironic to read, like the sun up in the sky that I used to stare at until it became an almost blinding blue bouncing ball of light, my son came into the world and brought a brightness into my life that could rival that of its homophone. His mother and I are forever in awe, and forever thankful for our angel, our Saint. The story of how we got here is no fairytale, but I’ll try my best to tell you all about the best way I know how.”

About Deante’ Hitchcock
Introspective. Talented. Lyricist. These are just a few words to describe Grammy-nominated Atlanta artist Deante’ Hitchcock. After dropping out of Georgia Southern University, Deante’ decided that rap was his only option and began working harder than ever by releasing mixtapes and videos that created an undeniable buzz. His witty, charismatic social media freestyle videos generated attention, leading him to open for acts such as Lil Uzi Vert and Yo Gotti, and eventually led to a recording deal with Mark Pitts’ ByStorm Entertainment.
With several impressive EPs under his lyrical belt, in 2019, Deante’ secured a highly coveted spot on the Grammy-nominated J. Cole and Dreamville compilation album, Revenge Of The Dreamers III, which is currently RIAA-certified Platinum. He released his debut album BETTER in 2020, featuring the single “How TF” feat. 6LACK and collaborations with JID, Young Nudy, Miguel, and St. Beauty. Following suit with the deluxe version of BETTER later that year, which featured appearances from Guapdad 4000, Kenny Mason, Ro James, and more, the project solidified Deante’ as a must-watch artist within the next wave of Southern rap, garnering critical acclaim and ‘Best of 2020’ placements across Complex, NPR, XXL, and UPROXX.
Deante’ closed out 2022 with the release of his two-pack project Callin’ All My Children, which showcased a unique blend of Deante’s rap roots and retro production influences, with features from Mississippi rapper and producer Big K.R.I.T. and Compton’s Westside Boogie. He also lent his songwriting skills to the hit show P-Valley, serving as a co-writer on the single “Seven Pounds of Pressure” featured in season two. The soundtrack was nominated for an NAACP Image Award this year. Deante’ also recently appeared on Dende’s latest EP, Before We Crash, lending his vocals on the single “Georgia.”
