[New York, NY – August 20, 2024] Today, ATL-based Grammy nominated Queen of the Souf rapper Latto makes history as the first solo female rapper from Atlanta to ever have a #1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums chart, debut or otherwise, with her critically acclaimed third studio album Sugar Honey Iced Tea via RCA Records. The album also earns Big Mama a top 15 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, her highest debut to-date at #15. Overall, she is only the second female rapper in 2024 to have a #1 Rap Album debut and Top 15 Billboard 200 debut.

Sugar Honey Iced Tea is centered around Latto’s Georgia Southern roots and displays her signature raw, witty lyricism over magnetic beats. The 21-track album features A-List Southern artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Coco Jones, Young Nudy, Flo Milli, Teezo Touchdown and more. This release follows Latto’s major Billboard July cover print issue and the release of the singles “Big Mama,” “Sunday Service,” “Put It On Da Floor” and latter two track’s respective remixes.

The 2023BET “Best Female Hip-Hip Artist” award winnerhas brought everyone to her ATL church this summer starting with the original version of the single “Sunday Service” which garnered viral buzz when Latto teased a snippet of the song on her IG a few months prior, giving fans her signature witty bars over a catchy beat. In June, Latto released the remix to her single “Sunday Service” featuring Megan Thee Stallion & Flo Milli and her next single, “Big Mama.” The latter track was dropped right before her two performances at the 2024 BET Awards – one for a medley of “S/O To Me,” “Big Mama” & “Sunday Service” and the other for Usher’s tribute. She garnered two nominations at the award show this year, “Best Female Hip-Hop Artist” and “Best Collaboration.” Latto also headlined ATL’s Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash that same month and made history as the first-ever female headliner. About Latto:
Two-time Grammy nominee and 2023 BET “Best Female Hip-Hip Artist” winner Latto has been making a name for herself since she was eight years old and hasn’t stopped since. In the past few years since signing to RCA Records, the 25-year-old released her project Queen of Da Souf, her Gold album 777 and loose singles while continuing to elevate and garner accolade after accolade. When Latto dropped her critically acclaimed album 777 in March 2022 it debuted in the top 20 at #15 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and top 10 at #6 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart. To support its release, she embarked on her first headlining tour, the 777 Tour, that hit major cities across the U.S. The impressive accolades she’s earned over the years throughout these releases include the following – she’s the first female rapper to ever have a #1 record at Pop, Rhythm and Urban Radio with the same single (“Big Energy”), the first solo female rapper from Atlanta to receive an RIAA-certification (both Gold and Platinum) and amassed her first solo top five hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with RIAA-certified 3x Platinum single “Big Energy” (peak #3). To ring in 2023, Latto performed on Miley’s New Years Eve Party and then attended the 2023 Grammy Awards where she was nominated for “Best New Artist” and “Best Melodic Rap Performance” (the latter for the track “Big Energy (Live)”). That same weekend she performed at Clive Davis’ iconic pre-Grammy Gala and was a part of his 2023 class. For the first time last year, Latto went overseas performing in various cities such as London, Paris and Gdynia (Poland). She also ran the U.S. festival circuit, one of the festivals being Coachella where she where she debuted her hit Platinum single “Put It On Da Floor Again” – the remix featuring Cardi B – which landed in the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She’s recently collaborated with BTS star Jung Kook on his single “Seven” (went #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart and was #1 on Billboard’s Global chart for six weeks straight) and went on to win an MTV VMA award for “Song of the Summer” for her collaboration.
