The official follow up to her global breakout-hit “People,” “Jah” lands in the wake of a monumental start to 2023 for the Cameroonian born-Minnesota-based singer. A further display of the distinctive sound that has quickly won her worldwide acclaim, “Jah” is a soul-baring offering that unites her Gospel and Afrobeats influences. Her captivating tone and strikingly relatable songwriting transcend across the track, detailing the process of choosing yourself and all the freedom it brings when your faith is unwavering: “I have all that I need, in my Jah, Jah, Jah…”, she sings.
“In my life, I’ve met and gotten close to a lot of people who are not here with me today (figuratively).
Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t work out how you would have imagined, and sometimes you need to walk way from someone for the betterment of yourself.” Libianca says of the track.
December 2022 would change Libianca’s life forever. Growing up with a love of Afrobeats, Makossa, Gospel and R&B, it was destined that Libianca would become the powerhouse that she is today. Years of Open Mic Nights and church choir practices would form the basis of her later artistry, recognizing very early the power of songwriting that speaks to people at the most crucial times in their lives. Prioritizing vulnerability, empathy and emotion in her music in a mission to “heal the world” has resulted in a blossoming trajectory into the world of music.
