LOS ANGELES, CA (September 9, 2022) – Today, rising artist MASN releases “Crush,” out now via RCA Records. The melodic alt-pop single taps into the feeling of infatuation and being crushed by the emotions and toll of falling for someone.
“‘Crush’ was inspired by the feeling of someone having enough emotional pull to figuratively crush you,” says MASN of the release. “It feels as if you’re being physically crushed but really it is just in your head. We don’t always realize how much pull someone has over us.”
The release of “Crush” follows a slew of singles from MASN this year, including last month’s release of his single “High School.” Earlier this year, MASN released the viral track “Love Me For Me” and “Adrenaline,” the latter of which was praised by NYLON as a “breathless, snappy ode to living on the edge.”
About MASN
The way MASN puts it, songs flow out of him as if delivered by a higher power, lyrics and melodies taking shape at will, with his voice and thought process serving as mere conduits to the universe’s intentions. But taking him at face value would fly in the face of the truth: each MASN song shares a singular fingerprint, a unique double helix that twists the 21-year-old’s sonic and lyrical DNA into tracks that tell stories only MASN could. He’s a conduit, but only for his own inner workings and thoughts; the higher power at play was his revelation several years ago that music was where his talents best served him and others.
MASN took to music like a moth to a flame, eventually exploding onto the scene in 2019 when his hit single “Psycho!” dropped. The viral track garnered over 200M combined audio and video streams worldwide and over 1.5M TikTok videos, eventually tapping rapper Trippie Redd on remix duties. MASN’s expansive creative palette distills into a dreamy melting pot of lo-fi beatcraft, indie experimentation, hip-hop fluidity, and lush pop, amplifying every side of himself within his songs. He released his resonant debut EP, How To Kill A Rockstar, in 2020, featuring the singles “Hate Me!” and “Fire,” which received praise from Billboard, Ones To Watch, PAPER, and more.
