LOS ANGELES (November 4, 2022) – Today, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Mills shares his new single, “Hands On Me,” out now via Keep Cool/RCA Records.
Following the release of the breezy “On The Weekend” earlier this fall, “Hands On Me” is an anthemic rock ballad about conflicted lovers at a crossroads in their relationship. Accompanied by the music video, directed by Jake Zaoutis, the visual finds Mills pulled in a variety of directions by seamstresses at a tailor’s shop as they fit him for a suit.
“‘Hands On Me’ is a song I wrote about contemplating your head and your heart,” says Mills of the inspiration behind the track. “It’s a narration of a past experience of mine, and it zooms in on the feeling of being wanted by someone else but knowing that the pleasure you feel is temporary and will turn to pain when you inevitably have to leave. It goes through all the enticing moments of growing closer with somebody, but also goes back to asking yourself if you should miss out on the pleasure to save yourself from the pain.”
About Mills
Born and raised in Bowling Green, KY, and having spent time in Nashville and Los Angeles, Mills’ southern influences have been brightened by the Los Angeles sun, resulting in buoyant melodies tinged with nostalgia. With his poetic storytelling and distinctive harmonies that evoke the 1970s era of Laurel Canyon, 22-year-old Mills emerges as a troubadour for the modern age, vividly spinning tales of young love, happiness, and heartbreak. Last year, Mills released his EP Train of Thoughts featuring his critically acclaimed song “Hollow,” which Billboard described as “sun-kissed singer-songwriter music, with a beautifully loping hook that gains texture as the harmonies fully arrive.” while The Interns called it “a sweet spot between John Mayer and Harry Styles.” Last fall, Mills supported Peach Tree Rascals and Surfaces on their nationwide tours. This summer, he performed at Revolve Festival alongside Post Malone, Jack Harlow, Migos, and more, in addition to sets at Lollapalooza, Summerfest, Wonderbus, and Wonderstruck.
