Speaking on “Golden Child” Paravi says, “This is a song I wrote to give myself permission to fuck up. As a child of immigrants and a young Indian girl entering the music industry, I’m no stranger to the self-placed pressure of perfectionism and the strain of living up to the “model minority” idea, a concept my parents never forced upon me, but something I picked up from my American-ized Indian experience. It wasn’t until I went to college that I took a leap of faith into imperfection by allowing myself to make mistakes. Unlearning the weight of this pressure I had put on myself for so long is exactly what “Golden Child” is at its core. Instead of worrying about what others think, I realized that being authentic and encouraging myself to live life a little further off the edge is what makes me happy.”

21-year-old Indian-American singer/songwriter and artist Paravi has built an audience of over 3.1M followers and has amassed over 260M views and 24.8M streams to date. From a young age, Paravi has always gravitated towards art and performance studying Indian theater and undergoing training in classical Indian dance and singing through high school. Currently majoring in Musical Theater at UCLA, Paravi turned to social media at the onset of the Global Pandemic.
