MARCH 29, 2024 – Today, Purple Disco Machine has unveiled his collaboration with German artist Roosevelt on new single, “Higher Ground,” out now via Sony Music Germany/RCA Records.
United by their love of the nu disco sound, these long-time admirers and supporters of each other’s output made the decision to work together after meeting at various festivals around the globe including a number of shows together. The end product combines a trademark Purple Disco Machine ‘80s tinged synth loop and bass line with Roosevelt’s signature indietronica sound to deliver an edgy club banger built around Roosevelt’s laconically delivered vocal refrain.
Speaking about the release, Purple Disco Machine says: “Roosevelt has always inspired me a lot as an artist, I’ve been a big fan of his music ever since I discovered his debut album ‘Roosevelt’ in 2016. After his amazing remix of my track ‘Hypnotized’ I was super excited to work on some original music together….”
Roosevelt adds: “Purple Disco Machine’s productions have been an inspiration over the last few years, so it’s been a fantastic experience working together on a track. I loved the process of sending Tino a vocal and him tailoring the whole track around it. I was able to take a step back from production duties and focus on my vocal performance, which was challenging but a lot of fun.”
Purple Disco Machine has been at the forefront of a disco revival, earning accolades and chart success with his infectious grooves. His collaboration with Kungs, “Substitution,” achieved over 180 million streams worldwide, becoming another massive European airplay hit (#2 in Europe), and Gold status in Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, France, Belgium and Hungary. With an impressive track record that includes a Grammy win and remixes for a multitude of acclaimed artists, Purple Disco Machine has solidified his position as a trailblazer in electronic music. Having received a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for his rendition of Lizzo’s “About Damn Time” last year, Purple Disco Machine continues to ride a wave of incredible success. The electronic virtuoso has established himself as a chart-topping artist through his collaborations with Sophie and the Giants on tracks including “Hypnotized,” “In The Dark” and “Paradise” as well as achieving numerous multi-platinum singles with the likes of Eyelar and Moss Kena. Alongside these achievements, Purple Disco Machine has consistently delivered a series of dancefloor favorites including “Body Funk,” “Dished (Male Stripper),” “Rise,” “Playbox,” “Bad Company,” and his recent single with ÁSDÍS, “Beat of Your Heart.”
Multi-hyphenate talent Roosevelt aka Marius Lauber is a German producer, instrumentalist, songwriter, vocalist and DJ. First making waves in 2013 with his debut EP Elliot, Roosevelt has crafted an immersive music catalogue that spans different genres. In addition to his original work, Roosevelt has collaborated with some of the industry’s biggest artists including Nile Rodgers, Taylor Swift, Glass Animals, and CHVRCHES.
