[New York, NY – October 5, 2023]— Today, GRAMMY-Award winning, Oscar nominated, Lagos, Nigeria-based singer, songwriter, and producer Tems releases new track and visual, “Me & U” via Since ‘93/RCA Records – listen HERE. The song notably marks her first solo release since her If Orange Was A Place EP. “Me & U” is written entirely by Tems and features production from Guilybeatz and Tems. The music video was shot in Malta and directed by Tems herself – watch HERE!
When asked about the track she stated, “’Me & U’ is about discovering the real me, building a genuine relationship with the Creator, and gaining a true perception of self.”
“Me & U” made its broadcast premiere on BET Soul and BET Jams at noon ET today. The video will also premiere on Paramount’s Times Square at 1:00pm and 6:00pm EST.
Tems has had an outstanding year as she won her first GRAMMY Award for her work on Future’s chart-topping, triple platinum single “Wait for U,” and received a nomination for her feature on Beyonce’s Renaissance. She was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song, for her work on “Lift Me Up,” the lead single off the Black Panther: Wakanda Foreversoundtrack. Earlier this year, her chart-topping hit single “Free Mind,” appearing on her For Broken Ear EP released in 2020, became the longest leading #1 song by a lead female artist on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and is now RIAA certified platinum. “Free Mind” also went #1 on the Billboard R&B Radio and Hip Hop/R&B Radio charts, over two years after its release. Additionally, “Higher,” the hit-single appearing on Tems’ latest EP If Orange Was a Place, is now RIAA certified Gold.
